SSD(Solid State Drives) for Z6x series?

#1 Post by soccer4mark » Tue Jun 30, 2009 11:07 am

Are there any SSD(solid state drives) compatible for the Z6x series (particularly for Z60m)?

Additionally, are SSD's compatible with Ultrabays?

Recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

Any SATA SSD should work with the Z60m, but note that probably like the T60 and R60, the speed of the SATA is limited to 1.5 SATA speeds. The best drives like the Intel X25-M or OCZ Vertex probably won't be able to use their full potential.

Despite any T60 bottlenecks as mentioned by one poster here, my Intel X25-M gives me ~ 30% to 60% increase in speed, depending on what job it is running. Heat is negligible and boot times are around 37 seconds with hibernate near 15 seconds. These numbers are with Windows 7. Vista is around ten seconds slower across the board.
