wireless network connection set up
wireless network connection set up
Hi
I am trying to connect my A31 to the wireless network which is s router supplied by Telstra "2Wire".
next to the clock "bottom right" shows an icon computer screen with waves emitting out of it an an red x on its bottom right corner.
clicking on it opens "Wireless Network Connection 4" and lists 3 networks, when I click on mine and hit connect, it ties to connect but does not give Connected, rather it says Automatic. even though the system is with in one meter from the router and the signal is strong "green all the way".
Network Connections > right click "Wireless Network Connection 4" > Repair:
Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed.
Connecting to the wireless network.
I have other wired and wireless systems connected to the same router fine.
how can I fix this?
Thanks

Re: wireless network connection set up
What is the WiFi card and driver version installed? Is the router using encryption or authentication?

Re: wireless network connection set up
Try another wifi card.
Could also be that your router sends only a G-signal, and does not cater for B.
Maybe it has a B/G setting?

Re: wireless network connection set up
The High Rate 11b Combo card is pretty old. Try this driver and see if it gives you WPA-PSK:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... l&lang=eng
Routers can use 11b (DSSS modulation) and/or 11g (OFDM modulation) at the same time. But they typically cannot use two types of encryptions (WEP, WPA-PSK) at the same time. Another alternative is to add a second WiFi access point (or an old WiFi router with DHCP server turned off, IP address set to avoid conflict with your main router) to your network.
