Maybe dead battery charger - how to fix? (A31p)

#1 Post by rsc » Mon Jul 13, 2009 8:44 am

Hello,

I have a A31p (2653-RQG) where the battery is not charged any more. Does somebody know how I could fix that problem?

History:

One day I noticed that the battery is not charged and the laptop doesn't get power from the power supply. The cable between power outlet and power supply was apparently broken and I replaced it. Then the laptop worked with the power supply again. However, it doesn't charge the battery since then. It runs from power supply and it runs from a charged battery.

Thanks and best wishes,
Rainer

I'd guess that the faulty AC adapter cord blew a fuse on the system board that is associated with the battery charging circuitry, or some other component in the charging circuitry went south..

Do you know, where I could find information about the location of the fuses and how they usually look like?

I suspect that the charging circuitry is part of the motherboard and not on an easily replaceable daughterboard...?

Edit: Found a fuse map in the forum - so I have something to work on :)

Thanks and best wishes,
Rainer
