Need help with an lcd issue R40E

#1 Post by nogoldformarfa » Mon Aug 03, 2009 1:12 am

Hello. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated

ive got an r40e with 1 issue
i just got it recently i upgraded to a 100gig hard drive and 640mb of ram. I use it with both windows xp and ubuntu 9.04 and my problem happens while using eiter of them

the laptop works great when plugged in but when i unplug it it runs fine for about 5 minutes and then the backlight goes out and in the next second it just completely turns off.I then have to remove the battery (sometimes several times) and put it back in to make it work again. is this a hardware issue or a software because it did not do this before i replaced the hard drive. I sthere some power setting im not using?

Have you checked your power management settings?

In both BIOS and in whichever OS you are using?

Are you sure it's off and not in hibernation or suspend???

While on battery, what happens if you connect an external LCD and leave the internal LCD off?
