R52:no power from AC Adapter, is Docking Station a solution?

#1 Post by sgarza » Tue Aug 18, 2009 3:56 pm

Hello everybody,
my 1860-5EG XP sp3, suddenly refused getting powered by the AC-Adapter (I tried a workin chord).
Battery is not charging and on the DC Jack are 16V,
so I guess a MoBo issue, perhaps due to flexing...?

Now I will not repair/exchange the MoBo by a professional
but
could I use the R52 with a docking station for a use w/o battery?
What Docking station/ port replicator should I look for?

Thank you ,and I promise a glass of Chianti for those who help me

greets sgarza

Yes, you can try a docking station. But likely it is just a blown fuse.

I prefer Gavi di Gavi or Barbera d'Alba. :D

thank you sjthinkpader,

would the docking station work with burned fuses too?
Or is it possible to change them by my own?(I' will not do any soldering work on the mobo)
is there somewhere a scheme/pic to locate those fuses?

going down to the cellar now, to have a look... :)

Location of fuses should be very similar to T4x.
