Carrying handle for R61?
Carrying handle for R61?
Hello,
Often I carry around my R61 under my arm, like a book. I was wondering if anyone makes an attachable handle that would allow the R61 to be carried as if it was a thin briefcase. I am not referring to putting it into a carry case with a handle, but rather to having the handle directly attached to the side of the R61.
Thanks for any information you may have on this.
Regards,
Bruce

There's no room anywhere to mount a handle, plus the material used is not strong enough to support such a handle.
If that's what you want, go buy a Panasonic Toughbook.

Re: Carrying handle for R61?
If that is the situation, another satisfactory solution would be if there was an extremely lightweight carrying case which allowed heat dissipation (e.g. netting). I have the R61 set-up to do nothing when the lid is closed. In other words, it still continues to do calculations while I go from one location to another. If it was placed in a regular carrying case, it would overheat.
Thanks,
Bruce
Thanks,

OK Im cheap
Im thinking a setup that involved the seatbelts from a WalMart shopping cart
Maybe a strip of aluminum to separate the 2 straps and attach the handle to.

Just found this:

There's even a ThinkPad (14.1" T4x I think) on the photos.

Re: Carrying handle for R61?
I've used the totegrip on all my laptops including the R61, worked great on my T40 too. I just bought an Acer netbook and got one for it too. It works great in my docking station and makes it real easy to run between meetings at work.
Re: Carrying handle for R61?
With the R61, I'd be concerned with the battery falling out and hitting the pavement. There is, after all, just the one little latch on the bottom, at the middle of the battery, that keeps it in. Just be careful! I usually carry the notebook with the battery up.
