Got rid of R50 - weird problem

#1 Post by netzspannung » Wed Sep 30, 2009 2:09 pm

Hi, I recently got rid of an otherwise very nice r50 machine, with flexview screen and other goodies. The problem was it was going through hard disks like mad.. Every six months it would render a brand new hard drive full of unrepairable bad sectors... Last time I was extremely lucky to get my data back before the drive packed in.
This cannot be a coincidence.. I am somewhat puzzled about what the problem might me, does anybody have an explanation? Maybe wrong power\voltage? Bad power supply? My old t22 is now about 8 years old and is still on the original hdd...

I'd say a bad IDE connector, happens now and then. Replace the mobo and you'll be fine.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
