r32 problem

#1 Post by HOMEY1 » Thu Oct 08, 2009 8:42 am

i just put a new dc jack in my r32 and i now have an problem. the unit runs fine on ac power
but when i plug in the battery it shuts off the whole thing and will not start with the batt in
but when i remove the batt it starts and runs fine. i did notice that when i plug in the batt
and the adapter the adapter light pulses like its trying to charge. is there a fuse that is bad or have i just screwed my mobo? thanks for looking.

There is a fuse for the battery charging, however if it was working before you did something incorrectly while soldering on the jack. It sounds like a dead short with the battery installed. Was this setup working before the jack replacement?

Yes, but did the battery charge and run before your operation on the machine?

I don't know where the fuses are located on an R32, nor have I even seen a picture or diagram for that machine as far as fuse locations. So, if it were my machine I'd remove the system board completely and check every fuse that I could find with a multimeter. I'd also check my work on the jack, and redo it if necessary. In the back of my mind I would also consider the idea that I may just have a bad battery. Good luck.
