R40 2722-C3M wireless LED

#1 Post by shifta » Sun Oct 18, 2009 11:51 pm

Hi guys,

New to forum and this is my first post. I recently bought an Intel 2200BG wireless module for my R40. Works great; did a bios update, install driver, etc.

but whenever I use Fn + F5 to turn on wireless, it turns on alright, but the wireless LED on the monitor does not light up.

Any ideas?

I tried installing different version of drivers from Intel website, still no go.

Cheers,

Sam

I have a situation similar to this on my R40 also. The thing was I had used a card that was not listed in the HMM for the R40. My R40 had arrived with a Actiontec B card. I have wireless G here at home that uses WPA-PSK as encryption. The Actiontec card does not work with that level of encryption.

I have a spare Broadcom card in my box of parts that I had used in my old T30 at one point. It is wireless G and it did work with our router set-up. Problem with that was after installing that card in the R40 it would not even load into Windows.

I got the 1802 error.

I know how to use the "no-1802" hack so I removed the card leaving the wireless bay empty. I inserted my bootable "no-1802" disk and applied it.

It worked.

However there was no flashing LED to indicate the wireless was on. The wireless was working just had no flashing LED. The lights had worked with that crappy Actiontec card so I'm assuming it has to be a replaceable FRU that is listed on the HMM. I'm still looking for a cheap wireless G for mine and would love it if the LED works with it!
