thinkpad R40 memory connector

#1 Post by Anomale » Tue Feb 15, 2005 7:56 pm

I am a tech and I have an R40. The memory connector got damaged and I removed it from the motherboard but I haven't been able to find out who makes it. I checked all the major connector manufacturers like AMP, Samtec, JAE, Tyco, 3m but have had no luck. I even called IBM and they told me they would have to replace the whole motherboard. Does anybody know where I can get a new connector? I desperately need to get this laptop working for my daughters school projects.

Thanks
any help is appreciated

I do not have an answer to that question but there is a fairly desirable R40 board on eBay for $250 right now...

What about if I sent you a defective R40 planar? You could extract the memory connector from there if you have the skill, and save yourself a few hundred bucks?
