Swap R51e LCD w/ R40 LCD

I have an R51e 1844-69U that has two pressure marks on the screen. They are not terribly unbearable but I would prefer the laptop to have a nice clean uniform display. I have a parts (dead MOBO) R40 2897-B4U that has an 15" XGA. The LCD is an LGP P/N 92P6694. I also see that in the HMM it is the same as a P/N 11P8310.

My R51e I am not sure what part number the R51e is offhand but I'd like....well actually would love it if the LCD from the R40 would work in the R51e

I don't know if the LCD works but the R40's parts are in almost new shape. The only flaw (if you look for faults) is the keyboard has two small notches on two keys. I don't have a spare R40 w/ 15" LCD to test the LCD out on so I'm hoping if someone with experience could share.

Maybe someone knows if a R40 LCD will fit an A30/A31?

If that works, then it should also work with the R51E. I put an A31 panel in my R51E and it worked, but the thinklight cable had to be extended.

Well guys. I have a pretty free weekend...

*knock on wood*

I got done w/ two huge tests and have no homework for the weekend so....

I already have the R40 pretty much disassembled. The lid is still intact but extricating the LCD doesn't seem like it will be too hard! Time to get in "nerdy girl" mode and get to it.

I thank you gentlemen who have responded to my query. Geez... I think I owe a lot of ppl here a drink or a dinner by now for the invaluable advice I'm getting

Well guys I have success!

I got a little bored today so I went ahead and replaced the LCD and it works. I'll tell you one thing though!

It took me almost four hours to do it!

It was well worth it though

Forgot to add that the R51e LCD FRU is 13N7090. The R40 LCD I now am using is P/N 92P6694.
