R51 Backlight out on multiple screens

#1 Post by scr71822 » Tue Nov 03, 2009 4:14 pm

I an R51 motherboard with ATI9000 chip, video is fine at the VGA port to an external monitor and you can see the video on two different LCDs I tested both known to be good, except the backlight does not come on on either of them. Is there a fuse that would control the lighting of the backlight that can be easily replaced?

There is a fuse, but replacing it may or may not be easy.

Also, your GPU might be failing. The fact that it displays on external monitor doesn't mean it's healthy.

Good luck.

Start measuring each and every one...there are not that many of them...

Good luck.

Find any posting of user Poshgeordie. He has a T4x fuse location diagram in his signature.
Very similar (if not the same) mobo to yours.

Solder one piggy-back-style over the old one. Much easier.

Incredible! What would cause a fuse like this to go bad? (As an electrician by trade, I'm accustomed to at least looking into the cause of why a fuse blows if it's not from an obvious short circuit or overload ...)
