Monitor randomly turns on

#1 Post by calloftheblade » Mon Feb 21, 2005 10:55 am

Whenever I turn off my monitor, for some reason it turns back on after 20 minutes or so, and I don't touch the keyboard or anything, so can someone explain to me whats going on.

Check 3 things, in that order:

1. Screensaver times
2. Power settings on windows, if you run windows
3. Bios power settings

Usually problem is number 1, but in any case I would suggest going to bios and setting all setting to maximum performance since that way they wont clash with OS (Win/Linux at least) settings.

1. Restart or Turn your Laptop on
2. When you see the Big IBM ThinkPad Logo press F1
3. Go to Power and check these Settings.

But also check your background programs in Windows.
IBM ThinkPad R51 1829-DRG
Intel P-M 1500 MHz
768 MB RAM

Sorry for my English, I speak german.

Programs that may execute in the background on a set time interval (an antivirus program, or something like that), and which wake the monitor up.
