Keyboard replacement for R61

#1 Post by bmf » Sat Feb 06, 2010 5:56 am

Hi,

My brother has got a R61 (model 7735-CTO, 14" widescreen), and I need to replace the keyboard (QWERTY-US) with one that fits his needs (layout: QWERTZ-SWISS).

I've seen some offers on ebay that state their keyboards are compatible with "T60 / T60P ,T61,T61P, T400 ,T500 , Z60 , Z61 ,R60 , R61".

But I wonder:
1. if it's true that keyboards are indeed compatible through the whole series "T60 / T60P ,T61,T61P, T400 ,T500 , Z60 , Z61 ,R60 , R61"?
2. if there are differences between keyboard for 14" and 15" models? As I remember keyboards were not compatibles between 14" and 15" on the T4x series.

Thanks in advance.

Yes they will all fit. The parts numbers may be different, and there are some design differences, particularly comparing T60 to say T400 keyboards, but they do fit and work in other machines. As an example, when T400's first came out there were a lot of complaints about keyboard flex. Folks discovered that a T60/T61 keyboard would work in a T400 and did solve most of the flex issues.

Thanks for the answer.

That'll be easier for me to find the keyboard :)
