a31 motherboard

hi all

i am looking for some advise on which motherboard to get to replace my dead one.

the part numbers on my motherboard are p/n 26p8357 and fru p/n 26p8429
it has a 1.9 processor. sorry the model number on back of the computer has worn off.

i am looking to buy a replacement motherboard with p/n 93p3536 and i am unsure if it
is compatable. will this work or do i need to get one with the same part numbers

Welcome to the forum!

All A31 motherboards are interchangeable.

Having said that, there are some not-so-subtle differences between them. Knowing the 7-character model number of your ThinkPad (265?-???) would help us guide you in the right direction.

I assume since the board is bad you can't get into BIOS...

Anyway, your machine has the most basic board with 16 MB VRAM, so there's no possible "downgrade" and any working A31 planar will fit just fine.

You may want to post a WTB (Want To Buy) ad in the forum's Marketplace and maybe someone will come to the rescue.

But if you could still get into the BIOS, it would be visible in the first BIOS screen.
First 7 characters after the line that says something like: Serial number...
