I had it on it's docking station, when I decided to add a PS/2 keyboard, I plugged in the PS/2 keyboard whilist the laptop was turned off, and then I botted it up. I got a message saying something along the lines of "Stuck key ID, press F1 to enter setup", so I pressed F1. It bought my BIOS up and I went for the option to reboot my machine. I rebooted and I just get the IBM ThinkPad and nothing else - I can enter the BIOS setup utility, but I can't revoke the IBM Recover, which is the F11 key.
I think the system board is OK as I get the IBM ThinkPad screen and I can go and change things in BIOS, I also resetted the BIOS to defaults and if I press F12, I can bot from a temporary device. At the moment I am thinking along the lines of "re install Windows XP".
Here's something that is also, strange - if I got into boot list and press ESC, Windows XP boots fine...
Any thoughts on what the external keyboard may have done to my A31? I'll keep you all updated.
A31
Well, this thread can be deleted now - I just got it working again. Seems that that little trick worked fine with the A31. I just love it when computers come back to life when you least expect them too - I thought I had killed it for a minute!
If anyone else has had this problem, then I solved just by pressing 'F12' on the IBM TP screen, then pressing the ESC key when the boot list opened, booted up XP and then rebooted XP.
