I've a friend user of IBM ThinkPad G40. Loaded with the recovery button on the home edition known too old. I want to change/update the backup in this partition.

Welcome to the forum.
The recovery partition contains data as it came from the factory.
These files are in a special format and there is no way to change the data there.
Rather, take an image of your current setup, then delete the useless recovery partition.
