Z61m System Board Replacement

#1 Post by RTDToo » Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:35 pm

I need to replace the system board on a Z61m Notebook, P/N 9450-02U, with Intel Core Duo T2400, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and camera. It had a 41W1290 Samsung board (DA0BW2MBAD2 REV. D on board itself) with Radeon 1300 graphics. I've not been able to find an exact replacement (at least at an attractive price), but I know that Lenovo lists several different board models for the Z61m 9450 differing, in part, with the graphics chipset. I'm dubious in the first place about replacing with anything other than the original model if, for no other reason, than compatibility of other components such as heatsinks, fans. If it is even feasible, is this a slippery slope re potential problems with replacement using a "compatible" board, and is this pretty much trial and error re that?

Also, are there potential fingerprint locking issues on a "refurbed" board?

If you change to a board with Intel graphics, you will need a different fan. I believe that is all you need
