bought nec nd-6500a dvd-rw DL, but wrong connector

I have a R51. The drive fits but the connector on back of the nec drive (which is standard) does not match/fit the R51 connector.

Any idea what can be done? Is there a converter?
I looked at the panasonic UJ-845 and it seems to have the same standard connector.
