R60 Motherboard compatability
R60 Motherboard compatability
I'm trying to replace the motherboard in my Thinkpad R60 (Type 9457-96U). The FRU # on the old motherboard is 41W5274. When I looked it up on the IBM website part list I couldn't find it listed. Is there an aternative board I can use?

Re: R60 Motherboard compatability
Welcome to the Forum.
Download the HMM here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-64200
There's a slew of mobo numbers in there.
Main difference: 14" or 15", with or without Firewire, different Intel chipsets, different GPUs.
There are plenty alternatives...
Your mobo number is not in this HMM, is there a second number on that mobo?
You can also go here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... yle=lenovo
and enter your type (9457) and serial no. (99-12345) from the laptop bottom.
It will give you a list of parts ex factory. It might have the alternative P/N or FRU.

Re: R60 Motherboard compatability
Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried the serial# approach a few days ago, and the 41W5274 mobo is the one it was shipped with. I'm wondering if they changed the FRU# for that mobo.

Re: R60 Motherboard compatability
You have a 15" R60 with XGA.
So any 15" motherboard will fit. To lower the price, stick to the Intel mobos with 945 chipset.
Then check if you need/have wifi or not, Firefire/IEE 1394 or not, and get the corresponding mobo.

Re: R60 Motherboard compatability
The 15" boards are different from 14" ones. (You need 15") My notes say it is identical to 42w7719. I actually have a spare 42w7719 that I have had for a while, but I need to test. It has been sitting in my "to do" pile, but it has never been the right day. If you are interested, send me a PM. I can get it tested this weekend
