CCFL -> LED LCD New screen for a 2 year old machine

#1 Post by EngineersCake » Mon Apr 26, 2010 4:52 pm

So I have an R61 and the CCFL backlit display (15.4" WXGA) is noticeably not as bright as when I got it. I heard that these displays lose a huge amount luminescence after the first year. My question is:

Can I upgrade to an LED backlit LCD from newer computer like a T510 or a W510? I'm looking to replace the whole panel with all the electronics from the newer screen. (i.e. power supply, controller, cables).

Am I pipe dreaming? Is it cost effective? Or should I just shut up? :|

Thanks.
