Hi there,
I am a newbie and I hope not to violate any policies here with my request: I need urgently a region code tool that enables me to set back these $*&"% region code counter of my Toshiba DVD! I have already searched desperately on google but without any success.
Thanks in advance!
Yours,
Cet

To get the region count back to "4 more changes left," etc., you'll probably have to flash your drive with new firmware. Check this out...maybe one of these firmwares would work:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=243
By the way, if you decided to flash your drive with anything you find from the above, or anywhere else, you are doing it at your own risk and I can in no way be held responsible for your inability to use the firmware correctly or for some other reason, if you drive does not work correctly after flashing. In other words, you flash your drive at your own risk.
Cet, for the above link, you'll need to know which current firmware your DVD-rom is in order to know which firmware to flash your drive (if you choose to do this). The words "RPC1" refers to a drive that is region free. RPC2 refers to a drive that is region locked and uses the Windows Region Counter mechanism.
In regards to my own experience, I've never ruined a drive due to a bad flash, but people everywhere on the internet write in forums everyday of this sort of thing. Good luck!

True enough...I use AnyDVD personally, but then again this is software that costs money. If a drive can be made region free through firmware, there is no money involved...just a download.clanon2 wrote:no need to !!!!!!!
try anyDVD,dvdidle,etc,etc
