Proper Hard Drive Models for R61i

I would like to upgrade my hard drive from 160gb to 500gb for R61i.
I heard most hard drives would not work as it is not supported by Lenovo/IBM.
What specific models for 500gb are supported by Lenovo/IBM for R61i?

You heard wrong. The R61i uses a standard 2.5" sata drive. Any one of those should work, like this.
