R51 - is the gap between keyboard and display safe ?

#1 Post by Puppy » Mon Mar 07, 2005 5:10 am

I'm wondering whether the gap between the keyboard and display is safe to protect potential damage of the LCD surface by keyboard buttons when carrying the laptop ? Some materials says you should put something in between while others says it can make it even worse ;-)

Don't put anything in between there.

Just don't jam it into a backpack with books until everything is a tight fit. ;)

Exerting too much pressure on the top and bottom of your closed TP can cause the keys to come in contact with the LCD and may leave some smears if moisture or dirt is left on the keys.

Putting anything in between them is not recommended and necessary. Just take some precaution to place your TP in a place where it won't be squeezed too much.

The only thing I have used in the past is a 1mm thin sheet of soft bubble type plastic material. It just served as a precaution and eliminated the annoying smudges on the LCD in the event that the machine was put under pressure from above.

If you keep heavy things away from the LCD cover, and carry the machine in a good carry case versus a backpack type solution, you shouldn't need to worry about it.
