89329XU Motherboard Fried?

#1 Post by mcorbitt » Mon Aug 09, 2010 2:20 pm

PN:89329XU 4x4 Beeps
Power cord had two places that bare wires are showing from being stuck under chair.
Read your forum regarding 4x4 beeps. This is the things I have read to try to repair system

1. remove battery and unplug AC, push on/off ten times, 10th time hold for 30 seconds. TRIED THIS :(
2. remove battery and unplug CMOS batter - turn on using AC only
3. reseat security chip and/or RAM
4. replace motherboard

A. I have not been able to find motherboard part number for -9xu
B. I have read that if units still beeps Motherboard is not fried
C. Would this type of incident fry the MB or is there some type of protection that might have saved it
D. Could not find warranty upgrade for 8932 post purchase

Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

You're looking at a system board replacement, and definately get a new AC adapter.
