Cannot remove battery

#1 Post by n4vgm » Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:00 am

Hello all, new to this fine forum. I searched for this problem but did not see a related post.

I picked up a Thinkpad R30 Type 2656 at the County Government Thrift store for $50. Seems in very good shape but when I try to remove the battery it will not budge. When I unlock the sliding tab, is it supposed to "click"? I do not remember that from the last R30 I owned.

I tried pulling on the battery (gently) but it seems like whatever pin that slides out from the unlock tab is not. Any suggestions?

Otherwise, I installed Puppy Linux 5.1 and it works great! (256 MB RAM, 1.0 Ghz PIII, 30 GB HDD)

Thank you! I thought I was doing that but when I get home I'll double check. I may have gotten my memory of the old Thinkpad confused with the procedure of subsequent models we have owned.

This is why user forums RAWK!

Turned out the battery removal tab was only moving to the half way point. A little more force and it unlocked and the battery came out normally. Thanks again for the reminder!
