ThinkPad A31p PCMCIA Slots not working

#1 Post by icryblood90 » Wed Sep 01, 2010 2:06 pm

Hi Everyone!

I have an IBM ThinkPad A31p Type 2653 running Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3 - Hungarian. I got it from someone and thus I do not have the original CD-s coming with it. I would like to use it for web surfing, but it does not recognize the DYNEX PCMCIA wireless card (Model DX-WGPNBC) when I plug it in. It does not appear in Device Manager. I can not try if the card is working as my other computer does not have PCMCIA slots. I suppose the slots are the problem as I've tried them with a D-Link Fast Ethernet PC Card but this one also doesn't get recognized, nothing happens, and it is not shown in Device Manager. I've also searched the BIOS if it's turned off from there but I've found nothing. I do have the drivers for the card.

If someone could help, I could really appreciate it.
Thanks!

SOLVING MY OWN POST

After hours of searching, I've found out that the problem may appear because the card came loose from the motherboard. After a short disassembly and a light push on the connector of the PCMCIA on the motherboard the problem was solved.
