Dead R61

#1 Post by filip1331 » Sat Oct 30, 2010 7:20 pm

Hi!
I've got Lenovo R61, but not working. But personally I think it's worth fixing. The point is that when I plug power only for just 1 sec blinks power and battery led. If I unplug and push power button + plug power then I get continuos flashing power led.
I was looking for solution on forum but nothing really worked out for me. I dissasembled lenovo so i took out wifi, hdd, cdrom, ram but nothing changes. No sound just short blink of power and battery led.
Power supply is fine, i have checked 2 of them with multimeters.
Could it be a problem with gpu on motherboard? Have you met with anything like this before?
Thx
Filip

Ps: If I am going to have to buy new motherboard I would really apreciate for some information. Does T60/T61/R60 motherboard fits fine instead of mine actual one? I have seen pics and it seemed to be same size without any diffrences :)
PS2:I've got R61 8918-5wg

Welcome to the forum.
T61/R61 with nVidia graphics will all have problems.
The nVidia GPU has a manufacturing fault and every single one will fail, not just on IBM/Lenovo but also on Acer, HP, Dell and others.
You will need the same size motherboard as your current one (15.4" widescreen), but look for one with integrated Intel graphics.
Part numbers can be found in the HMM: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67859
