R61 Died Suddenly!
OK, I've got an R61 that my wife has been using for a little over 2 years. It lives in a dock, cover closed, connected to a keyboard and monitor. It *NEVER* moves
Today, I took it out of the cradle for a couple of hours to work on a wireless connection with the box for her. Except for problems with the wireless card, everything worked OK on battery.
When the battery got down to 29 minutes, I closed the laptop and took it back to the dock to let it recharge.
NADA. Nothing. No lights on the battery or anywhere. power button does NOTHING.
I plugged the power connector directly into the R61, and still NOTHING. Dead as a doornail. The power connector is OK, because I tried it on another Lenovo laptop I've got.
Any ideas (Oh - I blew out everything with compressed air, and reseated the battery and HD. Still NOTHING)
The battery (and laptop) was working when I shut closed the lid (without shutting down), but just would not light up AT ALL when I got it to the dock.
Could a dead battery leave it this cold? Is it possible the battery is just DOA (beyond charging) and is keeping the laptop from powering up?
I appreciate any thoughts! (My wife is beside herself, of course - let no good deed go unpunished, and I am being punished!)

Re: R61 Died Suddenly!
Pull the memory, hard drive, wifi card, optical drive and battery. Hit the power button 10 times for a second, then one more time for 30 seconds. Plug the power back in and try to start it. If it does not beep, the board is most likely dead. If it does beep, try plugging things back in one at a time to see if you can find the problem component.

OK - Can you point me to a maintenance manual (this is an R61i) that guides me how to get to some of these things? Like the memory and wifi cards?
Thanks!
