Drive caddy size for R61I ?

Gdday,I need to buy a drive caddy for a 15.4" R61i.A Hongkong supplier says the caddy for the 14" R61 is a different size to the larger screen versions-can anybody confirm his statement?

Since the hard drive is a standard size (well, at least when only considering 2.5" laptop drives), the caddy that fits around the drive is going to be the same regardless of whether it's installed in a 14" or 15" R61i. What may be different between the two screen sizes would be the hard drive cover.

Looking at the version for the R61i ( http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-64200 ), the only difference that is evident between the two (Pages 153-155) is part #13 (Hard disk drive cover assembly - 14.1in and 15.0in). The HK supplier may be offering a complete package (caddy, cover, screws) so then it's important to know which system you have. If you are just buying the caddy alone, then as long as it comes with a plastic pull-tab (to grab onto when removing the drive) you should be okay.

Thanks Ray for your comments.I came to the same conclusion except that the dimensions of the rubber side rails may have been different but I think it's unlikely & just the tray cover has a different profile.

The HMM specifies a single part number for the rubber rails. In other words, no difference between 14.1" and 15" models.
