Getting cell phone to work as modem

#1 Post by catfish774 » Wed Feb 09, 2011 12:35 pm

Hi all........on my T60 I just plug my HTC Touch Pro 2 (TMobile) w/ USB cord and use my smart phone as a data connection.
I tried this with the Z61t and nothing happens......a little help here, I know it has to be something simple.

You have to install ActiveSync to Z61t (if You are running WinXP on the unit, windows Vista and 7 requires Sync center-for sync center You need to be connected to the internet) and in the phone, in programs, search for Internet Connection Sharing, activate it and it should work

edit: i remembered one thing-for Windows Mobile is a program, called WMWifiRouter, which makes Your HTC to Wifi Router - you don't need any cables then, when i was using Windows Mobile device, i used to use it and it worked, but it is a long time ago, so i don't know, if it is free or paid software.

XP - Download Activesync
Vista/Windows 7 - Windows Mobile Device Center already installed
Assuming your Touch Pro is running Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional, attach via USB to Thinkpad. Activesync/Device Center will start and install neccessary drivers, setting up syncing is not neccesary unless you want to automatically exchange data with the device (Outlook etc).
Eject Device/Safely remove Hardware
On the phone, go to Tools>Internet Sharing
Leave Default Menu Drop-Boxes as is
Press "Connect" softkey
Status Will say "Check USB Cable"
Connect via USB to Thinkpad
Wait for NDIS Drivers to install
Now you should be connected using your phones Data Connection(and Plan of course)
