R61i - Flex View or PVA Matrix 15.4" LCD monitor swap

Hey guys,
Been reading a lot of forums, trying to garner this information. Can't find anyone who's successfully done this yet so I wanted to check in here. I'd like to replace my 4-year old dimmed TN panel on my R61i with a great screen. I'd love to be able to put a SPVA or IPS screen in here, or at the very least an LED-backlit TN panel, as I understand that'd be better than a CCFL-lit one. Anyone done anything like this? Don't know how cross-compatible the operation would be across the R series. Any help would be appreciated!

But I'm not clear if it's just a WSXGA TN or not. Probably is (price is low).

Welcome to the forum.

You're out of luck on this one, since no IPS/AFFS/PVA screens were ever made in 15.4" size. Not by IBM/Lenovo, anyway.

As for the LED-lit ones, that's a "maybe" since I'm not a 100% sure that the swap would be impossible, but tend to believe it is.

TN LED-lit panels are nothing to write home about, BTW.
