R52 memory Question.

I upgraded my old r52:s memory from 1x512 to 1x2048 stick.

When im having two sticks onboard my bios shows just over 2500mb ram, but when i get to my trusty xp pro it says only 2048mb

Is this an hardware or a software thing??

There is a 2GB memory limit on an R52, and it is a 'chipset thing'. You might as well take the 512MB chip out and toss it in a drawer.
