Thinkpad A21e 2628 and PC Card USB 2.0

#1 Post by BillG » Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:13 pm

I have a Thinkpad A21e Model 2628 and I would like to insert a PC Card adapter to USB 2.0.

I've tried two adapters. One didn't work, the other only gets me USB 1.1 speeds.

Can anyone recommend a PC Card USB 2.0 adapter that works with this model? Or is there a hardware limitation?

Thanks!!!

That A21 is so old, that it probably requires a 16-bit PCMCIA card, rather than the 32-bit version.
Or try the second slot if it has one.
Could be that one slot supplies more power than the other.

It only has one slot.

The documentation isn't clear, but it supports PC Card Type III, which might mean it supports 32-bit transfers.

Type III can be either 16- or 32-bit. :(

BUT, Lenovo says: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4PDRG3
PCMCIA
The Type III slot can accommodate one Type I or one Type II, or one Type III PC card via the lower connector in the slot.
Both 16-bit and 32-bit cards are supported.
