I have an R40 that has served me well, however the back light on the screen keeps going off - more off than on. It will come back if I press the screen at the bootom of the display, or the bezel around the HDD led and/or adjust the angle.
I have another R40 where the motherboard died.
I was hoping I could take the screen from the dead system and replace it - unless theres an even better way to go.
However, I was wondering if it is easier to replace the screen, or to replace the motherboard and hopefully end up with one working machine from the two I have.
Thanks - Bryan.
Problem with screen back light on R40
Re: Problem with screen back light on R40
It sounds like you have a bad backlight. Replacing the screen assembly as a whole is quite a bit easier than changing the systemboard. Just download the maintenance manual, get yourself a #1 Phillips screwdriver from Sears downtown, document screw locations while removing, and have at it.
