Rescue and Recovery

#1 Post by khergert » Wed Mar 23, 2011 11:06 pm

I need some how-to advice on using the restore disks on my z60m. All my thinkpads (1 r40 and a few t500's) uses R&R as advertised just by loading the discs, power on and let it run. My z60m otoh just sits and spins. My restore disc came with the unit and are lightly used. Twice before I needed to reload op system, didn't work and I had the warranty. this time its on me. no bootmgr is the only screen message. That's with a new hd, new formatted hd and one of my many used but good hd's. BTW I can load a retail version of xp pro and I put in one of my t500 win7 backups hd's and win7 loaded. I don't susupect hardware damage.

Lenovo Premium care sent me to regular care who could do nothing other than sell me more recovery discs. and I decided to drop it off at a local Lenovo business partner. So for a few bucks, it will again be one of two older units that mostly play radio and a few movies.

Have you tried changing the SATA setting in BIOS from AHCI to Compatible?
