Upgrading A31 CPU... Max?

#1 Post by BGoins12 » Sun Mar 27, 2011 3:29 pm

Hey guys, I have an A31 with the fastest CPU they offered in them, the 2.0 P4-M. Is it possible to max it out to the SL6WZ 2.6GHz CPU, or does the board/chipset simply not allow it? It's no big deal if it can't, as I think the performance is perfectly fine.

Yes, you can.

Expensive CPU and a lot of heat, but many people find it worthy... :)

SL6VC (2.4) is probably the best combination of price, heat and performance in my experience.

I'm running SL6WY (2.5) in my (currently out for repair) A31p, but only because I found the CPU under the market price...otherwise it would've been SL6VC...

i believe it works fine, but it's been awhile since i was actively upgrading my a31p. at the time the most i wanted to spend got me the SL6VC 2.4ghz cpu. seemed like a pretty good performance bump over the 1.8ghz cpu it came with, but i upgraded ram and installed a 7200rpm drive at about the same time. all of them together made for a very powerful machine in it's day.

edit: if George says it works, then you've got no worries. 8)
