Upgrading Thinkpad R50

#1 Post by samazn » Fri Apr 15, 2011 7:43 am

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of upgrading my old Thinkpad R50. So far I've ordered 2GB of RAM (the maximum), and was thinking of upgrading my awfully slow and small 30GB 4200rpm hard drive.

Would a 7200rpm hard drive be too much for this laptop in terms of heat, or should I opt for a 5200rpm drive. I will be installing a SATA hard drive caddy into the ultrabay. Any recommendations for hard drives? At least 320GB capacity.

Also, currently using the stock Pentium M 1.4ghz processor. Is it worth upgrading?

Thanks in advance.

The entire machine is not worth putting that kind of money into. Look into getting a T60 series machine.
