Question about A31p Motherboard

#1 Post by banyanleaf » Sun May 15, 2011 10:30 pm

I see some motherboards listed on eBay as for both A31 and A31p, is this possible? My understanding is that A31p has 64MB graphics memory and A31 has 32MB graphics memory. Any help is appreciated.

Well, yeah, you can install an A31 board in an A31p...that's about it.

A31 boards come with either 16 or 32MB VRAM, no S-video in, and no FireWire. That's the difference.

People who have no need for any of the above stuff, but appreciate the UXGA screen of the "p" version could easily live with a weaker board.

So by putting the UXGA screen from an A31p to a 16MB graphics memory A31 board only sacrifices the extra graphics memory but it will work? Then what about A30 board? Is it compatible with A31/A31p?

No, A30 takes P-III CPU and PC133 RAM.
A31/A31p takes P-4 CPU and PC2100 RAM.
They are miles apart.
RTFM, it's all in there.
