Last winter I did a little project on one of our friend's G40 (All refered to here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=92903 ) After I disabeled the predesktop area in BIOS, I managed to clone the drive, so the owner got it back with a new and bigger HDD, more RAM and ready to go for more years. Or so we thought.
But last week my wife got a call from the owner, where he said he had problems with the G40. It's a apparently a graphics problem, and from his brief description we assume it's either a dead CCFL, bad inverter or worst case, graphics card issues. So my question is if the G40 suffer from the same loose GPU issues as the T4x series. Or are there any other known issues we should be aware of?
He will ship the G40 to my wife, so we will know more as soon as it get's there. Just doing some research in advance.
Thanks!
Known graphics issues with G40?

Re: Known graphics issues with G40?
Doesn't the G40 have integrated Intel graphics? If so, then it can't have the same issue as the T4x ATI chips.
What are the symptoms?

Re: Known graphics issues with G40?
If I had taken the time to check out ThinkWiki for G40, I would have noted that fact too.
Well, we can rule out the loose GPU then.
The symptoms are "screen not working properly" as described by a very computer non literate person. So probably not all dead, but we will know more when my wife gets the G40 in her possesion, hopefully one of the next days. We will post again then. Unfortunately I am not in the US with her, so I have no chance to look at it in person. Luckily my wife does IT for a living, so she is able to do some repair jobs.
