Z61m dead lcd

#1 Post by havrancek » Sat May 28, 2011 8:19 am

Hi,
i have a question about my Z61m display.. it is a five years old comp, so i should be expecting something will happend..
one night i closed the lid, next morning i´ve opened it and.. nothing, black screen..
i tried to plug-in external monitor and it´s working, so where could be mistake?? and what should i do (i dont want to pay horrible amount of money in some official service)
it´s a radeon x1400 card (i guess that ok, cause of ext.monitor), and 15.4" Widescreen TFT 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA+)
anyway, after i plugged it on ext.monitor, i tried to reinstall display drivers, and now in everest, there is no internal display, ext.monitor is shown as primary display..
can you help me please?
many thx

Try Fn-F7 a few times.
Also, there is a proximity switch that switches the LCD power off if you close the lid with Windows running.
That switch may be faulty.
AFAIK it sits on the inverter, so maybe try another inverter?

If it displays externally with no issues, it is likely a bad inverter/backlight. Rare chance it could be the motherboard.
