r50e in t40case

#1 Post by j00j4nt200 » Sun Aug 21, 2011 4:31 pm

Hello,
My t40 mb finaly died (after 2 years of bga issues with ati7500 and reflowing).
Then I take apart my wife's r50e and put mb in t40 case.

It fit OK, but there are some minor issues that I ask for advice:
1. No sound. I admit - didn't watched wires - just plug t40 stereo speakers insted r50e mono - result no sound.
I can put back r50e mono speaker, or is there some way to use t40 stereo speakers?

2. BT doesn't work? I put t40 modem with bt and connect antena. Install drivers - Modem is working, but can't make bt to work?

3. Touch-pad connector - R50e doesn't have connector for touch-pad, but there is place on MB for connector. If I desolder connector for T40 and solder to R50e mobo will it work? :D
I noticed r50e are missing also some smd components near touch-pad connector, but I think I can only solder connector, these smd are to small for me to play?

4. TV-out same question, if I desloder tv-out connector from t40 and solder to r50e will it work? Guess not, but still asking :)

Update:
touch pad - I gave up.

Sound - working after reinserting connector. But only one speaker - just like in r50e that only have one speaker, doesn't matter that now have 2 speakers :/

BT - it's bmdc 200, fru 91p7297, can't find way to install/enable it?
Tried drivers from t40 and fn f5 nothing - bt device not found?

Edit: I found this post:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 38&start=0
Install that driver, then started BDCPWR.EXE - still nothing.
Then read again, carefuly:
"If you double click on it, it toggles the power on the bluetooth daughter card off and on.
(oh... the bdc is seen as a usb device)"

I think this is reason why not working in my case, since on my r50e board, usb ports doesn't work. (using pcmcia usb adapter)... well didn't need bt anyway, just wanted to work, so I can turn it off... :)

You'll also notice that the slit on the bottom of the case is 'empty', i.e. has no connector for a docking station...
R50e is the most basic of motherboards (e stands for economy, but some call it 'educational').
