"Paid", no. Screw that. I couldn't give a crap about Meltdown or Spectre or for that matter of a fact, most of them. What are they going do? Get my precious files?

Haha...they are all fooled by my little 149$ device.

Its not like I have up to 4 built TP's on standby to get and grab in case one goes down.

I'm not paying for security updates.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Only 4 Thinkpads? Obviously just a casual.

My opinion is that 2023 is a world away... its basically 4 yrs from now and the Windows world can change... who knows, maybe even Win10 could get usable!

I feel like Microsoft are doing a fair bit as it is giving us 4 more years.

I also feel like this is forgone. I know of many small Win7 migrations done over the years that are in the 10s if not 100s of millions US. They multinationals want their value.

The Win7 'enthusiasts' of the world will find a way around this in 4 yrs time.

Haha  . I should start burning some more copies of W7 onto some more TP's. I could probably quintuple that number.

I recently installed XP on my Z60m. Still can't browse though, Firefox 53 is too slow and Firefox 4 is too old.

I think the biggest issue with Win 7 will not be lack of updates but, like XP, software will no longer run on Win 7.

I can see a situation where new apps wont install on a Win7 system say in 2024/2025 just to be a pain.

I feel like my needs are fully met by Win7... except in small circumstances where I need Win10 store access so I am sort of grateful for Microsoft who have made the last great Windows from 2009 to 2023.

I think there's still a lot of ATMs and POS machines on some variant of Win7 so we'll be safe there if we can piggyback off their updates.

It won't be "just to be a pain". It will be because they started building them with newer SDKs, and Microsoft did not bother to make those SDKs compatible with Win7. Kinda like the situation has been with some programs and Vista for a while.
