Best Backup S/W for NAS

Hi All:

I am looking for recommendations for a backup software system for my local network (including NAS). Any suggestions.

I have given up of Acronis. Their 2012 system is jumk! I have used them for years but have real problems.

Am currently testing Genie Soft Backup Manager Home 8.0. It appears to be working ok, but it is also getting bad reviews....

After ditching True Image, I evaluated a few different products and in the end chose between Macrium Reflect (http://www.macrium.com/) and Image for Windows/DOS/Linux (http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-windows.htm).

I didn't try them all, but figured that it's probably better in this case to choose a product that more people use. Reflect and IFW happen to be two of the more discussed and recommended products.

Of course, maybe they just had more problems, or the people who recommended them were hired by the companies. Anyway, those "professional" reviews didn't seem to be of much use either.

Reflect has both a free version (http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx) with reduced functions, and also a 30-day trial for the full version.

IFW has a 30-day trial if I'm not mistaken.

Reflect Standard costs $45 for a single license and $90 for a 4-pack license.

IFW costs $39 for a single license and you can get a 15% discount here (http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/image-for-windows/). For non-business use, a single license "covers up to three computers".

The free version of Reflect and IFW can only do full-partition/disk backups.

Do you have any specific requirements in mind...? Like speed/performance...? Restore on different hardware...? Windows PE support...?

BTW, the built-in backup tool of certain versions of Windows Vista/7 can backup to network locations with certain limitations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backup_and ... s_editions) as well, and above all else, it's free. (For Win7 Home Premium, maybe mapping a drive letter or using SUBST will help...? I don't know...)

Many thanks for the reply. I will give IFW a trial.

Regarding my needs, this is for personal use. I have a small gigabit network with two NAS and four computers (only three operational at any one time.) Just need something that will allow me to backup to my NAS.
