T60 auto restarts

Whenever I try to shut down (on battery power only) my laptop reboots itself after it shuts down. Shutdown works fine as long as it is plugged in to ac power but as soon as I unplug the power cord it reboots. Also If i take the battery out and put it back in it will not boot until I plug in ac power but after this it will start fine on battery power.
Fresh install of win 7 and I am pretty sure I updated all drivers. I have tried searching google and found things such as turn off wake up on lan in bios (tried it) and that roxio can cause this (don't have). I have yet to find the same exact symptoms

Not sure if I can help, but take a look at the following.

How do you shutdown your computer? With the power button or from Shutdown on the Start menu?

Do you have any usb devices plugged in or any PC cards plugged in?

Is your BIOS at the latest version?

Do you have all the Windows Updates installed from Lenovo?

Do you have the latest chipset drivers installed from Lenovo?

Forgive me if this is already known and obvious; it can't hurt to reiterate it:

If your machine happens to be fatally faulting in some sense, the default behavior is to simply restart.

You can turn off this behavior from the computer properties (Right click "My Computer" or "Computer" or whatever it's called on your machine), select "Properties", click "Settings" in the third of the three boxes, "Startup and Recovery". Uncheck "Automatically restart".

If there's a failure, at least some sort of typically cryptic message will stay on the screen, giving you a chance to at least research the issue.
