Experience w/Internet Explorer 9 + Windows 7 on T42 or T42p?

I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my (dear old!) T42p which has a Pentium-M 765 (2.1 GHz) CPU and the 128 MB FireGL T2 GPU; the HDD is an 80 GB, 7200 rpm Hitachi. I have maxed out this T42p with 2 GB RAM. The reason for installing Windows 7 on this T42p was/is to compare the performance (boot time, HDD speed, application launch time etc.) of Windows 7 if installed on this HDD against the same Win 7 installation in the same T42p but on a fast 1.8" SATA SSD (this setup being discussed in the the threads T42 SSD Conversion Success (1.8" SATA drive + bridge board) and 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?).

The default Windows 7 Ultimate just completed included Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8, and while I almost only use Firefox (ver. 13 which is very fast and nice with the "classic-style" Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+), I would nevertheless like to ask if anybody has experience with using Microsoft's newer Internet Explorer 9 on a T42 or a T42p under Windows 7? I know I could just make a Restore Point (now with IE8 installed), "upgrade" to IE 9 and then revert back to ver. 8 if unhappy with ver. 9, but to avoid the hassle if ver. 9 is perhaps known to be slow or whatever on a T42/T42p under Win 7, I'd like to ask if anybody here has actually tried IE9 under Win7 on a T42/p?

One reason for hesitating to install IE9 is my prior experience with IE9 on a T60, as discussed in the thread Experience with Internet Explorer 9 on T60’s w/X1300 GPU?

Everything I have read is 32bit 9 is faster than 8 on just about any semi-modern hardware, its entirely new browser engine compared to 8.

If you don't use IE much, why bother to upgrade?
