Window 7 Will Not Boot After msconfig startup changes

#1 Post by mdclow » Tue Oct 09, 2012 9:50 am

Hello,

My Windows 7 T530 will not boot after I deselected several entries on the Startup Tab. Things like Acronis, Brother Control Panel3, Acrobat Update, etc. I have contacted Lenovo and paid for premium support and no help from first level. Machine will not start in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking or Last best configuration.

Help!

The start up does not even get to the Windows logo. I was told that the connection/bridge between the HDD & the OS was broken. We tried many/all of the Lenovo tools including getting into restore points and that did not work. The rep said that the changes I made to programs starting up should not have caused this kind of problem.

My feeling was that after about the first half hour he was throwing pasta on the wall to see what might fit. After spending $89 and 4 hours with support I gave up and restore from a HDD clone I did a week earlier. I lost a few notes I had put into my CRM software.
