How to re-install windows7 from external drive

#1 Post by nandudb » Tue Apr 16, 2013 10:28 pm

Hi

I have taken lenovo rescue recovery to my external drive sometime ago.
I am planning to upgrade my HDD to SSD and would like to re-install windows freshly from factory recovery.
However, when i tried to create rescue media, it was complaining "Only one Microsoft windows copy" in the system.
This seems due to previous factory backup taken to my external drive.

Now, i want to use the external drive to re-install windows. Please help me how do i re-install after fixing my SSD

Thanks in advance

Run the recovery from the external hard drive?

If not search for official windows 7 links and download windows 7 from digital river.
Next download wintoflash and extract it to a USB and also download the WiFi driver and Lenovo update to install Lenovo stuff
IBM Thinkpad A31 2.0GHz Pentium 4, 768MB RAM, 40GB HDD and a ATI 7500 16MB shimmed
Lenovo T420 4236-PA8: WiFi card replaced with a Broadcom one (fixes most DPC latency), 64GB Crucial M4 SSD added as OS drive, original HDD in a DVD to HDD caddy.
