Kind of weirdo:

I have two W7 PRO discs; one I'm using each time I install Windows (2-3 times a week), and a backup one.

Imagine installing a system on a R61 on monday. Everything works perfectly.

Installing a system on a R61 on tuesday. Same specs, same disc. MSVCP100.DLL missing, windows gadgets not working.
Reinstall. 5 times. Each time the same.
Take another HDD. Still the same.
Take another thinkpad(s) to a total of 6 (!). Still the same.
Take another - backup - disk. Still. The. Same.

What the smell is going on?

You know how it is - when everything works, you expect it will each time

MSVCP100 is not so "take it easy" anyway; my CAD apps can't start without it, and I guess since it's WI file some other professional apps wouldn't neither. Not to mention I get frustrated because the problem just popped out from nowere. And adding the missing DLL / swapping it with corrupted one does not help. I've had a very similar issue some couple of months ago, but it turned out to be some windows update matter.

Install the various Visual C++ / .NET redistributables.

Did that before posting it here, but with no effect.

The thing is, I simply wonder how is it possible it did work on one day just to stop on another. I was honestly looking for some hardware problem because this just should not happen just like that. I'm sure I will cope sooner or later, but am just surprised why it stopped working just like that, and on all systems I try to perform clean install on.

Sure did. T500, X61, T400 and couple of T/R61 were tested.

However, I'm close to solution I hope.
I have installed the oldest SP1 version of W7 Pro I could find. And guess what - everything in there was perfectly fine UNLESS I have updated the system via windows update. I'm digging deeper now.

EDIT: Still have no clue what have happened, but found a solution anyway. Installed a non-SP1 version of W7, and then updated it to SP1 with a seperate file downloaded from M$ site. The system is ~up to date now (however it does not seem to search for any new updates while being stuck at NET Framework 4.0), and everything seem to work as it should.
