How to stop showing: "To boot into the rescue and recovery environment press F11"
Just installed W7 on an Ideapad Y550 for a customer, using T420 recovery disks.
Installation went fine, everything works.
I then deleted the recovery partition and extended the W7 partition with that new free space.
But every time that machine boots, it still shows: "To boot into the rescue and recovery environment press F11".
The BIOS has no option to turn off displaying Option keys or change Predesktop settings or whatever.
How can I get rid of this F11 message?
EDIT:
found this for older machines (W2K/NT): https://support.lenovo.com/my/en/solutions/migr-4ufuyk

My guess is you need to replace the MBR. You could install grub or a similar bootloader, or you could use Windows to repair the startup, probably using BCDEdit.

Thanks, but there is no F11 reference anywhere, using BCDedit or EasyBCD.
Google is useless for this.
Still looking for help.
Should I try and repair/rewrite the MBR?

That did it.
If anybody is interested:
- boot from a (non-recovery) original W7 disk (same 32/64 version as what is installed, otherwise no-go!)
- select Repair
- select Command prompt
- type in: bootrec /fixboot [press Enter]
- type in: bootrec /fixmbr [press Enter]
- type in: exit [press Enter]
- select Restart
- remove W7 CD
